
Tiago Ferreira (PI)

Tiago Ferreira holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD in Psychology from the University of Porto. His research focuses on examining how mother–, father–, and teacher–child relationships shape the early development of socioemotional skills, using a longitudinal and multi-informant research design. He further strengthened his expertise in applied statistics and data analysis through a master’s degree in Modelling, Data Analysis, and Decision Support Systems at the School of Economics, University of Porto. He teaches courses in statistics and quantitative methods in postgraduate and advanced programs.

Filipa Nunes
University of Porto
Filipa Nunes holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Porto. Her research interests include sense of agency, adolescence, attachment, and mental health. Filipa has advanced skills in sophisticated data analysis (e.g., longitudinal data), using different statistical software. She has experience teaching various subjects, including Developmental Psychology, Research Methods, and Applied Statistics in Psychology. She has published several articles in high-quality scientific journals. Filipa is the national representative for Portugal in the European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA).

Hélder Spínola
University of Madeira
Hélder Spínola holds a degree in Biology, a PhD in Molecular Biology, and is an Adjunct Guest Professor at the University of Madeira (UM), where he teaches courses in the areas of Environment and Biology, such as Environmental Education, Environmental Sustainability, Management and Reuse of Agricultural Waste. He was Director of the Technological Specialization Course in Environmental Management and is currently Director of the Higher Professional Technical Course in Energy and Environmental Management. He is a researcher at the Research Center in Education and at the Human Genetics Laboratory (UM).

Marisa Matias
University of Porto
Marisa Matias, an Assistant Professor, explores how gender norms influence the way dual-earner couples balance work, family life and decisions about parenthood. She focuses on quantitative, dyadic approaches to understand how partners jointly negotiate these challenges in contexts where traditional expectations for women and mothers remain strong. She also studies how higher education institutions can foster gender equality and how gender dimensions can be incorporated into teaching and research. She has contributed to this field through books, chapters and a substantial body of peer-reviewed publications.

Paula Mena Matos
University of Porto
Paula M. Matos is an Associate Professor whose research focuses on how relationships, emotional regulation and developmental processes influence well-being from childhood to adulthood. Drawing on attachment, systemic and ecological perspectives, her research explores mental health, family dynamics and adaptation in contexts such as work-life balance, residential care and psycho-oncology. She has led and contributed to numerous national and international projects, increasingly focusing on generating knowledge to inform societal and policy change. From 2023, she is Director of the Center for Psychology at University of Porto, funded by FCT.

Richard Inman
University of Porto
Richard Inman is an FCT-Tenure Research Fellow at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, University of Porto. He holds a B.Sc. in Psychology, M.Sc. in Social Science Research Methods, and Ph.D. from Cardiff University. His research investigates the dynamic psychosocial processes and mechanisms that underpin positive human functioning, with a primary interest in addressing pressing societal challenges (e.g. sustainable development). His current work advances the construct of engagement as a holistic lens for understanding how people experience and interact with diverse life domains.
